Secretary (CS) course is is a highly reputed certification by the Institute of
Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). Institute of Company Secretaries of India
(ICSI) is a premier national professional Institute established under an Act of
Parliament.
A company
secretary is a senior position in a private sector company or public sector
organisation, normally in the form of a managerial position or above.Company
secretary will deal with the legal activities of any type of business. The role of a company secretary is
to take care of corporate governance, responsible for the administration of the
organization, ensuring statutory & regulatory compliance, ensuring the
implementation of the decisions of the board of directors of the company.

How many Levels
are there in Company Secretary (CS) Course?
The Company
Secretary (CS) course consists of three levels.
CS Foundation or
CSEET (which is applicable after Feb 3rd, 2020)
CS Executive
CS Professional
What
is the eligibility criteria to study Company Secretary (CS) Course ?
There are two
options to pursue a Company Secretary (CS) course.
Old Scheme
Foundation Entry
If a person opts
to pursue a Company Secretary (CS) course after 12th standard they can directly
register for the CS Foundation course through Foundation Entry option.
Executive Entry
If a person opts
to pursue a Company Secretary (CS) courses after graduation or the students who
cleared the Intermediate level of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India or
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India. (ICSI), they can directly
register for the Intermediate course through Direct Entry option.
New Scheme
CS Executive
Entrance Test (CSEET)
CS Executive
Entrance Test (CSEET) is applicable after Feb 3rd 2020. If a person opts to
pursue a Company Secretary (CS) courses after 12th standard or graduation/ post
graduate students are eligible to register CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET).
After clearing CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) they can rigister for CS
Executive.
CS Executive
Entrance Test (CSEET) Exemption
Students who
cleared the Final level of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of
India (ICMAI) or (The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or .
Company Secretaries Foundation Programme passed students can skip this level and directly register for
CS Executive.
Old Scheme - Step by Step Process
The first step is
to clear the CS Foundation.
The minimum
eligibility is 12th std.
The second step is to
enroll for the CS Executive
Students qualified in
Final examination of Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) or
Institute of Cost and management Accountants of India (ICMAI) or any other
Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognized as equivalent there to by
the Council or a Graduate Post Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) are eligible.
The third step step is to enrol for the CS
Professional exams.
Any candidate can apply for this course after
qualifying the CS Executive course
The fourth step is to Acquire Company Secretary (CS)
Membership.
There are two membership statuses provided by the
Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) to such candidates. One is the
Associate Membership and the other, Fellow Membership
A candidate who has passed the Professional level of
the ICSI program can apply for enrolling himself as an Associate Company
Secretary (ACS) and a person who has gained sufficient experience as a
professional CS and has been an Associate Company Secretary (ACS) for at least
5 years can become Fellow Company Secretary (FCS).
New
Scheme - Step by Step Process
The first step is to clear the CS Executive Entrance
Test (CSEET).
The minimum eligiblity is 12th std or graduation/
post graduate students are eligible to register CS Executive Entrance Test
(CSEET).
After clearing CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET)
they can rigister for CS Executive.
The second step is to enroll for the CS Executive and
clear the exams.
Students qualified in CS Foundation or Final
examination of Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI) or Institute
of Cost and management Accountants of India (ICMAI) or any other Accountancy
Institution in India or abroad recognized as equivalent there to by the Council
or a Graduate Post Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) are eligible.
The third step step is to enrol for the CS
Professional exams.
Any candidate can
apply for this course after qualifying the CS Executive course
